stratum
stratum re-visions physical structure and material as sound. utilising an additive approach of simple shapes and excitation mechanism, this work renders audible the latent sonority within each planar material object, to create a polyphonic chorus of evolving texture and timbre.
kinectic.bowls
kinetic.bowls consists of two kinetic sculptures, similar in design but exploring different materials. each sculpture is 300m x 300mm x 1200mm. the work is self contained, and has its own electronics and control system. the work needs two power points to run, all other materials and cabling will be provided by the author.
spectra
Spectra is a mechatronic audiovisual work that navigates the intersections of sound and light. The work investigates their shared medium and explores how each element can interact and distort one another. Pure white light is passed through a lens which is deformed by a mechatronic assemblage, dispersing its parts and scattering its colours. Sound is created and composed for the system, and through spectral analysis, its spectral qualities are imposed onto light through deforming the lens. The result is a dynamic interplay between colour, light, and sound.
